Christ Is Here

John 1:29

Many people do not acknowledge that Jesus Christ has come into the world. They question the date of His birth, they question whether or not He was born in Bethlehem, they question the place He was born called the Church of the Nativity, and they question how a virgin girl named Mary could give birth to a son who had never know a man. They also question the presence and works of the Holy Spirit. Our Scripture today does not deal with the when, where, and how Jesus was born, you just need to know why. The Bible says, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16) There are four things that matter pertaining to the wonderful presence of Christ:

1                    If Christ had not come, God would be unknown to us.

Jesus taught us that He that has seen Him has seen the Father. He also told us that He had to be about His Father’s business which was the redemption of mankind. Jesus is the greatest revelation of the living God to man. He was and is our living example of what God is like and He has made known to us the presence, plans, and purposes of God. There are many things we know nothing about in life, but God made it possible for us to know Him through His Holy Son.

Do you desire to learn things in life?

The Holy Spirit convicts our hearts and gives us the hunger to know God Himself?

Jesus Christ is the way, the truth, and the life! (John 14:6)

2                    If Christ had not come, our sins would be unforgiven.

The name Jesus means “Jehovah saves.” John the Baptist proclaimed Him to be the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world. The old song says, “What can wash away our sin? Nothing but the blood of Jesus.” “What can make us whole again? Nothing but the blood of Jesus.” Our forgiveness comes only through Jesus Christ who gave Himself as the payment for the penalty of our sins. I am so glad to know that God loved us enough to forgive us of our sins. Without Christ we would be doomed forever and separated from the love of God. What a blessing to be forgiven.

Have you thanked God for forgiving you of your sins?

Are you willing to forgive others of their sins?

3                    If Christ had not come, our prayers would be unanswered.

In Bible days you need a priest to petition God on your behalf. And Jesus is our High Priest who understands our weaknesses, for He faced all the same things we do, yet He did not sin. The Bible says that He understands our struggles and because of this He invites us to come boldly before His throne of grace, that we may receive mercy, and find grace to help us in our time of need. (Hebrews 4: 15-16) Lord, teach us to pray and to trust you to make intercession for us before the throne of God. Christ is the mediator between Holy God and sinful man. He is our High and Holy Priest.

How has God answered prayers in your life?

What keeps us from praying more than we do?

Ask God to strengthen your prayer life!

4                    If Christ had not come the first time, we would have no assurance that He will come again and take us home to Heaven.

Today we celebrate the Scripture that says, “Behold the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world. In our future we will celebrate the coming of the “Lord of Lords and King of Kings” who blesses us invites us to live with Him forever in the Glorious Kingdom of Heaven! What a day, glorious day that will be!
