Hebrews 10: 35-36
Christians are called to walk by faith even when the journey is hard and we face many challenges. Often times we are tempted to give up or give in because of the challenges we face. The writer of Hebrews encourages us to stand strong and not throw away our confidence. What are you facing in your life that troubles you and how could we pray for and encourage you today?
1 Don’t Give Up
Do not give in to hopelessness or imagine there is nothing left in you. I watched as our mission team returned from Baja California after a jam packed week of service unto the Lord and fellowship with the wonderful people of Calvary Chapel Bible College. By the time Clay and Jana picked us up at the New Orleans Airport late Monday night our group appeared to be moving slowly. By the time we made it to the church at 11:00 p.m. our batteries were just about on empty. Your situation may be frustrating because you cannot see any relief for the pain you feel and the setbacks you have endured. But you will make a terrible mistake if you quit because you think your circumstances will never change or get better.
Have you thought about quitting in life?
Have you ever lost your confidence?
Hang in there, and turn your heart to God.
2 Don’t Give In
There are circumstances that come along that require more than you are humanly able to give. No matter how hard you try, they continue overwhelming you. In fact, the more you work to overcome your difficulties, the more they seem to defeat you. Paul said, “We are under great pressure, far beyond our ability to endure, so that we despaired of life itself… But this happened that we might not rely on ourselves but on God. (2 Corinthians 1:8-9) Sometimes we feel like we are being stretched beyond what we can bear, but we must be reminded that God is in control, so don’t give in to the temptation to quit.
Have you been stretched to the limit?
How did God provide for your needs?
3 God Is Able
God can intervene at any moment in ways that would absolutely astound you. He has not left you, nor is he perplexed by the challenges you face. These have all come so that He can show Himself mighty on your behalf. But you cannot give up on obeying Him and doing what is right because if you do, you will miss out on His wonderful provisions for your life. So wait for Him and allow Him to be your strength. (Psalm 27:13-14) Soon you will see His deliverance and reward if we faithfully endure. (Galatians 6:9) Lord, we may be weary, but we will trust in you and obey. We know you will come through on our behalf. We thank you Lord for teaching us to have greater faith as we grow in your grace!
