Jeremiah 29:13

Do not get frustrated or discouraged when it appears difficult to seek the Father. You may wonder why He doesn’t just make Himself known to you. But don’t despair; He is training you to find Him. How does he do so?

 1                    Trust

First God develops your trust by stretching you beyond your comfort level. The Word says, “Hope that is seen is not hope; for who hopes for what he already sees? But if we hope for what we do not see, with perseverance we wait eagerly for it.” (Romans 8: 24-25) And so the Father remains silent for a time so we will persist in seeking Him and increase in faith. God wants us to trust him completely in all things whether small or great. Trust is the foundation of relationships; if you cannot trust someone then it is very difficult to relate to them. There are many people who trust in things more than they trust in God. Things will never save one soul but trust in God brings not only salvation for all time and abundant life as well.

Are you a trusting person or a bit skeptical?

Are you a trustworthy person?

Can people trust you to do what you say you will do?

 2                    Instructions

Second, the Lord teaches you to depend upon him rather than any earthly crutch. He sustains everything in the universe with His power and He wants you to realize it. So He brings you to the point where you must rely upon Him for everything, even the timing and manner by which he reveals Himself to you. What does God want to teach you at this time and season in your life? If God knows best and we know He does, why will we not trust his instructions and guidance in our lives? His disciples asked the Lord to teach them to pray. (Luke 11:1) Moses asked God to teach Him His ways so that He may know Him and continue to find favor with Him. (Exodus 33:13)

Are you hungry to learn the ways of God?

Are you willing to allow the Holy Spirit to teach you?

Are you willing to study the Word of God daily?

We should be growing every day in our knowledge of God.

3                    Pursuit

God says, “You will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart.” (Jeremiah 29:13) He will certainly be found by you as you seek Him wholeheartedly. God should not have to continually prod you to keep growing in your faith? We should be growing in the Lord because we are pursuing Him every day of our life. When we are truly looking for something we often find it as we refuse to give up the search. We as believers are not to be quitters or easily deterred from our pursuits. We should be like a search dog searching for a lost child in the woods. We should continue the search until we find what we are looking for. Lord, as we give you our whole hearts we thank you for deepening our relationship with You. Help us as we trust you more, as we learn your ways, and as we seek You with all of our hearts.
