1 Chronicles 16: 8-12
In our scripture today King David has defeated the Philistines and has brought the Ark of the Lord to Jerusalem. It is a time of celebration and thanksgiving. We have observed Thanksgiving in America this week. I hope your Thanksgiving holiday season is filled with celebration and joy as we express our thanks to God for all the wonderful blessings He has shared in our lives.
What are you thankful for today?
How can we express our thankfulness?
1. Through Our Witness (v 8)
The Lord tells us to, ‘Make known among the nations what he has done.” We are to tell others what God has done through giving us salvation. We have the privilege and responsibility to share with others what God has done and is doing in our life. We are to share with others what He means to us and how important He is in our lives. We are to share with others the grace, the peace, and the hope that we have because of His presence in our lives. It is great when we can bless and encourage others through our witness of the Lord.
Do you have something wonderful to share?
Who has been a witness to you?
2. Through Our Worship (v 9)
Often we are encouraged to send a thank you note to someone who has blessed us. Praise is our thank you note to God. Praise is not all there is to worship but worship without praise is not really worship. In verse 4 it says, “He appointed some to give thanks and to praise the Lord, the God of Israel.” I am to praise Him and tell all of His wonderful acts. I am to glory in His Holy name. I am to rejoice daily in my relationship with God. We all have been appointed by God to do so. I hope you can truly the sing the song that says, “We bring the sacrifice of praise into the house of the Lord!” He is worthy of all praise and He is worthy of your praise!
How could you express your praise to the Lord today?
What do you praise Him for today?
3. Through Our Walk (v 11-12)
How can we thank God for what He has done for us? By living the life daily He has created us, called us, and empowers us to live. “We are to look to the Lord and His strength; seek His face always.” This is a picture of walking with the Lord daily. This is a picture of our personal relationship with God. He leads us, shares with us, teaches us, transforms us, blesses us, and uses us as we walk with Him daily. I challenge you not to waste the opportunities you have to fellowship with the Lord through your daily walk with Him. Always remember that when we are walking we have come from somewhere and we are headed somewhere. We have come from being dead in our trespasses and sins and we are walking in eternal life which leads us to the glory of the Lord. We are encouraged to remember the wonders He has done, His miracles, and the judgments he pronounced. He indeed has made us alive in Jesus Christ, so why not live like you are alive!
How can you improve your walk with the Lord?
Where is He trying to lead you today?
Why not trust Him, walk with Him, and be thankful today!
