1 John 4: 1-6
How do you handle adversity? How can anyone explain the massacre of innocent lives in Las Vegas this week? The death toll is sixty and over five hundred wounded not to mention the emotional upheaval in thousands of lives. Where can one find security in our troubled world? Our Scripture tells us that we are not to believe every spirit, but we are to tests the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world. The bottom line is Jesus Christ is the answer. How can we find peace in our troubled world?
As hard as it is to face suffering and rejection, your trials and hardships can actually be opportunities to experience the Savior’s power, love, ability, wisdom, and peace that transcends understanding of man. This is because deep down inside, you learn, with an abiding assurance, that God is with you, that he is in control, and that He can give you joy far greater than any circumstance you can experience. The Word says, “You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.” (v 4) The One who is in you is none other than Jesus Christ, Lord of Lords and King of Kings. The one in the world is Satan, the loser and liar.
How important are right relationships in your life?
Who is the most important relationship in your life?
Of course, the comfort and assurance you experience from Him is not a denial of reality, nor an escape from it, on the contrary, it is supernatural and sustaining in ways no one can ever fully understand. Our God is more than real and awesome in power. One day every soul will acknowledge this reality when every knee shall bow and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord to the glory of God the Father. Get on your knees for more than your normal three minutes and you will discover yourself immersed in the reality of the Holy presence of God. His indwelling Spirit gives you a sense of security so deep and in such great measure that nothing can shake it.
How real is Jesus in your everyday life?
How real is He when the wheels fall off of your self-controlled life and everything that can possibly go wrong goes wrong?
Jesus is real! Trust Him!
All of God’s children go through times of crisis. It is during times of adversity that His peace is most clearly made clear. So stay faithful during these times, even though they may be challenging and painful they will bring you closer to Him. God seeks to restore us always and especially through times of adversity and struggles. You can always trust the Lord to carry you through all circumstances in life. You can rest assured that He is faithful, present, and powerful. We can prevail and we can find peace beyond our circumstances because of the greatness of the One who lives within and reigns forever. Ask the Lord to restore you today.
