Ephesians 2 : 8 - 10 ; 13
God wants us to know and be reminded that it is through His grace we are saved. “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith – and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God – not by works so that no one can boast.” (Ephesians 2: 8-9) God also reminds us that we were once alienated from Him. “But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far away have been brought near through the blood of Christ.” (Ephesians 2:13) The song “Amazing Grace” reminds us of the importance of grace and its indispensable role in our salvation and sanctification. But what makes grace so amazing?
Grace Is Free
No currency exists or ever will that can ever purchase grace. We are usually suspicious of anything free, but God’s offer is without any hidden strings. He bore the costs for our sins (therefore, it is not cheap grace) so that He could extend it freely to any one on the basis of faith – not intellect, status, position, or prestige. Why He would choose to love a sinner like me is not only hard to understand but also truly amazing! Grace has been called God’s Riches At Christs’ Expense. Try to understand that God loves you so much that He gave His son to die to pay the penalty of your sins. (This should be a WOW moment in your life as you soak this in to your mind and heart.)
Have you thanked God today for loving you?
Grace Is Limitless
His grace can never be exhausted. Regardless of the ugliness, shamefulness, or number of our sins. God’s grace is and always will be sufficient for our every need. It can never be depleted; it can never be measured. He always gives His grace in fullness. God does not share His love with a tiny measuring spoon, He floods our lives with His love, joy, peace, power, goodness, blessings, and on and on and on with everything we need. We need God’s love more and more and God loves to love us with more and more than we could ever imagine. His grace is limitless!
